Soldiers give relief materials to Delta hospitals, orphanage

The 90 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State have presented relief materials to patients and workers at the General Hospital, Koko, Central Hospital Sapele and Testimony Orphanage Home, Sapele in Warri North and Sapele local government areas of Delta State

PUNCH Metro gathered that the gesture was in continuation of the battalion’s ongoing Exercise Still Waters II 2022 organised by the Nigerian Army.

The Commanding Officer of the 90 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Koko, Major J. O. Ajongbo, in his remarks at the various places visited by the military team on Wednesday, disclosed that the exercise was part of the command’s civil-military cooperation activities.

He noted that the gesture was “to let the people know that they are not forgotten,” adding that “the job of the army is not just to arrest suspects but also to show love, care and identify with the people.”

The Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital, Koko, Dr. Mukoro Samson, while welcoming the military personnel lauded the commanding officer and his team for the “good work” since he assumed office as the CO in Koko.

In the same vein, patients at the Central Hospital Sapele, in their numbers were presented with food items, toiletries and bottled water, among other items from the visiting officers of the 90 Amphibious Battalion.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, the Hospital’s Director of Administration, Mr. Mene Henry, the zonal matron, Mrs. Becky Uoi-Irheghe and the hospital matron, Mrs. Beauty Owonu, respectively expressed gratitude to the 90 Amphibious Battalion for the gesture, describing it as a welcome development.

Also at the Testimony Orphanage Home in Sapele, the military team similarly presented food items, toiletries, and other materials and were received by the management of the orphanage with excitement and prayers for the growth of the Nigerian Army.
