Sharon Stone reveals her late nephew helped 'save three lives' through organ donations

Sharon Stone has opened up about the death of her 11-month-old nephew, River, and revealed he was able to save three other lives through organ donation.

The Hollywood star confirmed River died in August, just days after being rushed to hospital with total organ failure.

The 63-year-old actress revealed her godson’s family were struggling with the ‘tragic loss’ as she highlighted the importance of organ donations.

Speaking to People magazine, the Basic Insinct actress said: ‘The fact that my godson was able to save three lives, two infants and a 45-year-old man was sanctuary for our family.

‘I can only say that you never, never know when a tragedy will happen in your life or in your family, but this opportunity be an organ donor, it saved us, saved our family.’

She continued: ‘Many people have many different thoughts about this, but in the end, it gave us some peace.’

After her nephew died, the Total Recall actress confirmed the news with a simple social media post.

Tasha, who is married to Sharon’s younger brother Patrick Stone, expressed her heartache at the death of her baby boy, who was born September 2020 and due to celebrate his first birthday next week, in her own Facebook post. 

The grieving mother wrote: ‘God needed River in Heaven. I can’t say more than I needed him here on Earth because my heart is shattered into a million pieces. 

‘My days will never be the same and I have no idea how I am supposed to live my life without the sweetest boy in the universe. I am crushed.’

Tasha included a video of River laughing around with Eric Clapton’s song Tears in Heaven playing in the background. 

She continued in the caption: ‘River William Stone you were loved beyond measure. Leaving your hospital room today was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I will ALWAYS love you my sweet baby boy.’ 

The week before, Sharon asked her fans to keep little River in their thoughts and prayers when first revealing his ill health. 

Alongside a picture of the young child surrounded by equipment in his hospital bed, Sharon wrote: ‘My nephew and godson River Stone was found in his crib w total organ failure today.
