The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned institutions selling in-house application forms to desist from the practice to avoid the sledgehammer of the federal government.
The Board reminded all tertiary institutions in the country that all applications for admissions to regular and non-regular first Degree, National Diploma/National innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education must be processed through JAMB and with the use of Central Admissions Processing System(CAPS).
The Board further warned institutions that rather than selling unauthorised forms, they are expected to advise candidates to apply directly to the Board. To curb the menace, the Board has indicated its synergy with relevant regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education(NCCE) to put a stop to the unwholesome practice. It warned that any infringement to the rule would be reported to the Honourable Minister of Education by the Board for necessary action.
The Board also reminded institutions that the duration of their non-regular studies must be maintained as approved by the regulatory agencies, which must not be less than 150 percentage of that of regular programsmes.
The Board also urged institutions that desire to place advertisements to do so with a proviso to candidates, who applied for the current 2024 UTME/DE, to change to their institution as(first choice 1st) rather than requesting the candidates to purchase another application forms or apply to them directly.
In the same vein, institutions are urged to note that the advisory on advertisement is to prevent infractions and to preclude institutions from running foul of extent provisions concerning double applications.
