…Nigeria to drop 15 players for Indonesia 2023.
Senegal dominated the Individual and group awards of the CAF U20 African Youth Championships that ended on Saturday at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
19 year old Belgian Pro League, Zulte Waregem FC player, Pape Dembe Diop who was the first player at the Youth Championship to score a hat trick in the 4-0 clamping against hosts Egypt at the group games won the Golden Boot of the Games for the highest scorer with five goals.
19 year old Goalkeeper of AS Picme FC of Senegal, Landing Badji won the Golden Gloves as the best Goalkeeper of the tournament. He was impeccable throughout the tournament as he kept a clean straight not conceding a single goal throughout six games the country played in the tournament. Very incredible though his counterpart from Gambia who conceded no goal like him in five matches allowed two goals flow past him in the finals.
Lamine Camara of Senegal who scored three goals in the tournament was the Most Valuable Player of the Championship.
Nigeria that came to collect their Bronze Medals with an unfamiliar track suit to Nigerians white on black track down instead of the usual green on green earned the Fair Play Trophy.
Meanwhile Nigerian Coach, Ladan Bosco has hinted that a staggering 15 players among the present team will not be listed when he presents his list to FIFA on April 10 after the world cup draws would have been made on March 30.
