The flight from Jos Capital of Plateau State, Nigeria on the evening of Sunday 8 May 2022 to Abuja on MaxAir Aircraft violated screening procedures for its passengers.
Newspot reporter on the flight witnessed two flights breach procedures. First , the flight that was expected to depart Yakubu Gowon Airport at 16.15 hr and arrive Abuja 1700 did not leave Jos till 19. 50 hr. Reason given was the usual operational issue for an airport that doesn’t operate flights beyond 19 hr because of poor runway lighting.
The second breach was the screening procedures for passengers about to board. Newspot reporter noticed how some passengers rushed in without the mandatory body screening.
He saw how one of the ground crew
responsible for screening challenged his boss that brought 15 women with 10 children to board without the proper body check.
He said as this was going on, others took advantage to rush in too.
One of the passengers simply identified himself as Collins said: “This is a serious security breach moreso at this time insecurity is getting worse in the country.
” The roads are no more safe , railroads are becoming nightmare now the air travels that most people see as safe are being threatened by security breaches.
“The Federal Government should step in by mandating all airport security agents to be more alert in keeping our airports safe for passengers. A stitch in time saves nine”.
