Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced salary increase for civil servants.

Lagos civil servants who were previously earning N35,000 as their salary now receive N170,000.

This increase took effect in January and was announced during the launch of the ‘Eko Cares Initiative’, a social program aimed at alleviating residents’ hardships due to the country’s economic challenges.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “Since January, we have been paying civil servants and all public officers a wage allowance of at least N35,000 in addition to their previous earnings.”

He further explained, “This means that those who were earning between N35,000 and N40,000 are now earning N170,000, and they have been enjoying this since January.”

The governor also expressed optimism about the approval of a new minimum wage by both federal and state governments in the near future.
