A police raid in San Jose, California, has led to the discovery of a large cache of illegal firearms, including ghost guns, stolen weapons, and explosive materials. Authorities say the investigation began when the suspect himself, later identified as 28-year-old Jacob Lafaver, called 911 on Monday, claiming that an armed intruder had broken into his Cottle Avenue residence.

Upon arrival, officers found no evidence of a break-in or another person inside the home. Instead, they reportedly

discovered an alarming stockpile of weapons, including privately manufactured firearms, altered or missing serial-numbered guns, body armor, bomb-making precursor materials, and several submachine guns. Investigators also recovered suspected fentanyl, a highly potent synthetic opioid.

The San Jose Police Department’s “GHOST” unit—tasked with tackling ghost guns and illegal firearms—executed a search warrant, leading to Lafaver’s arrest on multiple charges, including possession of illegal firearms and explosives. Authorities believe he was experiencing hallucinations when he called emergency services, raising further concerns about the potential dangers posed by the weapons in his possession.

This case highlights the growing concerns surrounding ghost guns—untraceable firearms that can be assembled from kits or 3D-printed components. The U.S. has seen increasing legislative efforts to regulate such weapons, which often fall into the wrong hands due to loopholes in gun laws.

San Jose police have assured the public that there is no immediate threat, but the investigation remains ongoing.
