Ruben Amorim loves Peaky Blinders so much that he is not sure he could be your friend if you are not a fan of the show.

The new Manchester United manager is settling into life in England, and is clearly already interested in British culture.

Sky Sports asked Amorim a number of questions sent in by fans, including what the Portuguese considers his favourite film.

The 39-year-old was not certain of that answer – although he gave another British-based production – but he was very clear on what series he loves.

‘I don’t know. I watch some series. But I don’t know, maybe Braveheart, because of the freedom and the spirit,’ Amorim told Sky Sports of his favourite movie.

‘But I like Peaky Blinders, I really like it. You have to like it. If you don’t like Peaky Blinders I’m not your friend, I don’t understand you.’

He will not be drinking in any British culture next summer at the Oasis reunion gigs, though, saying he doesn’t have time, but also suggesting the Manchester City connection would rule it out.

‘With media and games I don’t have time to shower!’ Amorim joked when asked if he has Oasis tickets. ‘I just shower, eat, Manchester United and media, that’s all.

‘But no Oasis tickets, you know why. No, no, no.’

On the theme of music, the Red Devils boss was asked what he listens to ahead of matches, but said it was more informative than emotional.

‘I don’t use a lot of music, more Portuguese podcasts,’ he said. ‘Simple things in Portugal. You have to know your politics, I think it’s a good thing for you to understand your country a little bit.’

Amorim suffered his first defeat as Manchester United boss on Wednesday, losing 2-0 at Arsenal in the Premier League.

He hopes to get back to winning ways in the 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday as the Red Devils host Nottingham Forest.

So tight is the Premier League table that Forest go into the game in seventh and United in 13th but a victory for Amorim’s side would see them leapfrog Nuno Espirito Santo’s men on goal difference.
