Roy Keane tore into England skipper Harry Kane after the Tottenham star produced another lacklustre display in the Three Lions’ draw against Hungary.

The 28-year-old has been off the boil for club and country so far this season and his performance in England’s 1-1 draw against Hungary at Wembley on Tuesday night raised concerns about Kane’s fitness.

The forward was taken off 15 minutes from time, with the Three Lions in desperate need for a goal.

And Keane believes the display was symptomatic of Kane’s poor start to the campaign, with the striker failing to get over the disappointment of a failed move to Manchester City.

‘There is no middle ground with Kane,’ Keane told ITV. ‘

‘When he’s on fire he is fantastic and when he is off – and we’ve seen many times before – it’s like he is on his heels and he can’t get up to speed with the game.

‘Whatever is going on at club level he does need to do a bit more when he’s not at his best in terms of general play.’

Kane informed Spurs of his desire to leave at the end of last season but Daniel Levy rejected two offers from City for his services.

Kane accepted in the final days of the window that he would not be granted a move to the Etihad and he’s yet to open his account in the Premier League this term.
