Ever since the meeting of stakeholders of Ondo state with President Tinubu on Friday 24th November 2023, over the political stalemate due to the continued absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredoiu from the governance of the state due to ill health, there has been various insinuations as to who and who is now in charge of governing the state.

At various fora from different media and bloggers, there were insinuations that the Deputy Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa was bent on being made the acting Governor, trying to convince the state House of Assembly to ratify such.

However, in an exclusive interview with Newspotng.com, the chairman House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon Olatunji Oshati Maxima has finally cleared the air, saying the resolution reached at the meeting with the President ” remains unchanged.  The status quo is Rotimi Akeredolu the Governor and Ayedatiwa the Deputy Governor “.

He said the House of Assembly “is not thinking of making any pronouncement on Ayedatiwa as acting Governor, neither is the House making any impeachment move against him. No more impeachment as he remains the No 2 citizen of the state.”

Hon Oshati said “the resolution at the meeting with the President was discerning, instructive and clear enough, to the understanding that, while the Governor remains the Chief executive, the Deputy Governor will act, with all the paraphernalia accrued to the office of the Governor”.

When asked, how possible the deputy Governor would act without the official transmission of power, he said by the pronouncement and the resolutions of the interface between the President, it was crystal clear that the deputy Governor “is now in a position to act.”

Hon Oshati regretted all the insinuations capable of setting the state on fire and truncating the peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed in the state.

He advised that people should disregard every news about the situation not emanating from the state government or the House of Assembly.

He assured that the matter had finally been resolved and laid to rest, with the state moving forward.
