Ballon d’Or chief, Pascal Ferre, has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo’s ambition is to win the prize more times than his eternal rival, Lionel Messi.
Ferre is responsible for handing out the award ever year.
Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner and has been nominated the most with a record 17 times, but remains one behind Messi.
Messi is heavily tipped to win the prize this year, when it is handed out on Monday, November 29, taking his tally to seven.
However, Ronaldo is hoping he can still surpass the Argentina captain.
“Ronaldo has only one ambition and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi and I know because he told me,” Ferre said, according to Marca.
