Road users in Port Harcourt were left stranded again for the second day running after heavy rainfall left parts of the city flooded.

Parts of Sars road, Obi wali road, Ada George and some axis of the Ikwerre road were flooded on Friday leaving commuters walking long distances and vehicles breaking down.

Meanwhile, a youth group, the Rivers State ethnic youth leader’s coalition has blamed the recent flooding experienced in parts of Port Harcourt on the failure of the construction company handling the various road projects in the state to “carry out feasibility studies as practised globally”.

The leader of the group Legborsi Yamabana who spoke during a media briefing in Port Harcourt told journalists that the negligence on the part of the construction company which has left many houses and businesses submerged in the last few days would have been averted if “necessary environmental Impact Assessments were carried out”.

He also regretted the action taken by the Rivers State Government which led to the sack of the former commissioner for environment Igbiks Tamuno for “questioning the construction company for carrying out road construction without impact assessment”.
