Rio Ferdinand fears Arsenal will lose twice over the course of the Premier League run-in and are unlikely to finish the season as champions.

As was the case 12 months ago, Mikel Arteta’s side head into the final straight leading the way, but face a testing schedule which is complicated further by their involvement in the Champions League.

The Gunners still face daunting away games at the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, while Chelsea will also relish the opportunity to put a spanner in the works of their London rivals.

Sunday’s game against top four hopefuls Aston Villa and a trip to Wolves also represent potential banana skinks and Ferdinand cannot see the current leaders taking maximum points from their final seven games.

The former United defender also believes Liverpool are likely to run into trouble between now and the finishing line with the Merseryside derby a potential stumbling block, especially given the Toffees’ need for points in their fight to stay up.
