On Monday, residents reported that 51 bodies had been recovered in Zikke and Kimakpa villages in Plateau’s Bassa district, while several more were reportedly injured.
The cause of the attack was not immediately known.
“A mass burial is currently underway. There is outrage in the land at the moment,” said one of the residents, who alleged that the gunmen were cattle herders responsible for the bastardized act.
Honestly, no community deserves to go through such trauma, bloodshed, and destruction.
Amnesty International Nigeria condemned the incident, stating that the gunmen also razed and looted homes—a chilling reflection of the callous mindset of humans killing humans like themselves.
“The inexcusable security lapses that enabled this horrific attack, two weeks after the killing of 52 people, must be investigated.”
Meanwhile, residents of several communities in Ondo, Benue, Nasarawa, and Edo states are reeling from deadly attacks by suspected armed herders, sparking widespread outrage and protests across the country.
A total of 30 people were reportedly killed in a series of attacks across the four states, with communities calling for urgent government intervention, yet the government has not mobilized the armed forces to address the situation promptly.
In Ondo, nine surveyors were reportedly kidnapped, while in Edo, two residents were abducted, and four others sustained gun and machete wounds.
Enough of this killing spree in the country under the direct watch of Mr. President, the number one man in the country.
