Real Madrid on Friday paid tribute to Rudy Fernandez after he announced his retirement as a professional basketball player.
Fernández had earlier announced his decision to retire from the sport.
However, in a statement on their website, Real Madrid expressed gratitude and affection to one of the greatest legends of their history.
“Following Rudy Fernández’s announcement of his retirement as a professional basketball player, Real Madrid C. F. would like to express its gratitude, affection and admiration to one of the greatest legends of our club and world basketball,” Real Madrid’s statement partly read.
Fernández joined Real Madrid in 2011.
During his 13 seasons at the club, he won 26 trophies in 754 games.
The trophies include European Cups (3), Copa del Rey (6), Intercontinental Cup (1), League titles (7) and Spanish Super Cups (9).
