Gary O’Neil has confirmed Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hwang Hee-chan are unlikely to start Wolves’ Premier League clash against Arsenal on Saturday, while Matheus Cunha, Pedro Neto, Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson are all ruled out through injury.
Arsenal are looking to get their Premier League title challenge back on track after losing 2-0 at home to Aston Villa last Sunday and travel to Molineux where they will face a Wolves side hit by multiple injury concerns.
O’Neil was expecting Ait-Nouri to return from a calf problem last weekend but theAlgeria international ended up missing the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Cunha, meanwhile, scored both goals for Wolves in their draw against Forest which has taken his tally to 11 goals in the Premier League this season, but he will miss the game against Arsenal due to a calf injury.
Hwang returned from his hamstring issue as a second-half substitute in the draw against Forest but is still unable to play a full game.
‘I’ve got 10 senior outfield players to pick from that can start a football match,’ O’Neil said on Friday.
‘Rayan could be available for the bench. He was back outside today and is feeling good but wouldn’t be able to play very long.
‘Maybe he’ll be available for the matchday squad.’
On Cunha, O’Neil said: ‘He received a kick on his calf during the Nottingham Forest game and has done a little bit of damage to the muscle from the impact.
‘It’s fairly rare, you don’t see too many of those. He won’t be available for the weekend.
‘We’ll see him again [this season]. We don’t know when it is, it could be Wednesday if everything goes well, it could be next Saturday, it could be against Manchester City.
‘We need to wait for it to heal. He’s a tough boy, so as soon as he feels comfortable he’ll be back.’
O’Neil confirmed that Semedo is also sidelined due to a calf issue.
‘He came off last weekend and it’s an overload issue on the muscle around the calf,’ O’Neil said.
‘It’s not serious, we’re just waiting for it to settle down.’
