Police recover arms, ammunition as two suspects flee in Delta

Police operatives attached to the Ebrumese Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on routine stop-and-search duty along DSC Express Road have recovered one pump-action gun, one locally made long gun, three locally made cut-to-size guns, and 18 rounds of live cartridges from two fleeing suspects.

It was learnt that the police stopped a tricycle with Reg. No. Delta EFR 175 VK conveying two occupants heading towards a police checking point.

Surprisingly, the two occupants of the tricycle jumped out and escaped from the scene abandoning the tricycle.

It was during a search that the Police recovered the arms and ammunition in the tricycle.

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

According to him: “Upon search of the tricycle, one pump-action gun, one locally made long gun, three locally made cut-to-size guns, and 18 rounds of live cartridges were recovered. Effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
