Police nab ten suspected kidnappers, recover 500 cattle in Niger

Niger State Commissioner Police, CP, Monday Bala Kuryas, has paraded ten suspected kidnappers and recovered about 500 Cattle rustled by suspects in Lapai Local Government area of the state.

Kuryas, who stated this in Minna while parading the suspects, said they were arrested based on information from a credible source

He explained that the suspected gunmen invaded Sonfada village in Lapai, Lapai Local Government and abducted two victims to Sonfada forest via Lapai.

“On receipt of the information, a joint Police/Vigilantes team from Lapai Division were immediately mobilized to the forest and after a chase and sustained operational pressure on the hoodlums, the two victims were rescued unhurt,” Abiodun revealed.

The suspects include Abubakar Jabi, 32, of Kontagora, – Babuga Abdullahi, 30, of Abugi Kogi State, Muhammed Jaye, 19, of Abugi Kogi, Ibrahim Mohammed, 20, of Tegina, Niger State and Usman Abubakar, 35, of Chanawa, Kogi State.

Others are Mohammadu Shengi, 20, of Abugi Kogi state – Mohammadu Usman, 35, of Kwana Mariga, Mamman Julli, 30, Masaka Nasarawa, Mohammed Isah, 65, of Eminuku Lapai and Mohammed Lawali, 48, of Sonfada Lapai from Niger state.

The state Police image maker said following the arrest of the ten suspects in the forest, a total of about five hundred (500) cattle suspected to have been rustled in their possession were recovered.

The PPRO further revealed that the suspects were equally arrested with two Bajaj motorcycles, a sum of two hundred and seventy thousand naira (N270,000) and five cutlasses.

He stated, “during interrogation, the suspects claimed to have reared their cattles to Sonfada forest from their different locations.”

Abiodun added that the case is presently under investigation.
