According to police sources, the incident was first reported on April 10 by Mohammed Alamin, a resident of No. 10 Yoruba Street, Boji-Boji Owa, Agbor, Delta State.

A security expert, Zagazola Makama reports that Alamin informed officers at Okhuaihe Division that his employee, who grazed cattle in the Isuwa area, had gone missing and was not found in any detention facility.

After the initial report, Alamin returned to the station on April 15, requesting police escort to the area where the missing herder worked. A police team accompanied him to the bush, where a search led to the discovery of Banyi’s decomposing corpse.
