The all-singing, all-dancing film series Pitch Perfect is getting a new lease of life with a TV spin-off series.

Actor Adam DeVine is heading up the cast of the new show, which has been ordered by Peacock.

As Variety reports, the actor and comedian is set to reprise his role as the film’s loveable antagonist Bumper Allen.

He was the head of rival a cappella group The Treblemakers in the movies and also the love interest of Rebel Wilson’s character Fat Amy.

There’s a bigger connection to the films behind the scenes too. Elizabeth Banks is set to act as executive producer, having also starred in, produced and directed the second film in the series.

What can fans expect about the new series? So far we know that it will follow Bumper Allen and pick up several years after the events of the movies.

It will see Bumper Allen move to Germany in a bid to make it big after one of his songs becomes a hit in Berlin.

The likes of Anna Kendrick and Anna Camp also starred in the hit film series,  which first arrived in 2012 and followed university a cappella group The Barden Bellas as they competed in national tournaments.

The film trilogy has grossed more than £439million ($600m) worldwide, with the most recent instalment coming in 2017.

Susan Rovner, who is Chairman of Entertainment Content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said: ‘Our upcoming Pitch Perfect series is another example of the unmatched synergy NBCUniversal is able to expand upon with our wide-ranging library of IP.

‘When we saw the opportunity to create a series for Pitch Perfect with Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman and Paul Brooks plus more earworm classics for super fans to enjoy, we jumped at it. And to top it off, we are so fortunate that Adam Devine is headlining the series and bringing fans the quirky, laugh-out-loud sensibility they loved in the film franchise.’

As well as Pitch Perfect, actor Adam has appeared in shows such as Modern Family and Workaholics, as well as films like The Intern.
