Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that persons with disabilities have the potential to excel despite the challenges they face on a daily basis.

Adeleke made this declaration while speaking at an event to mark this year’s World Disabilities Day held at Osogbo Grammar School on Tuesday.

Our correspondent reports that the United Nations has reserved 3rd December every year as World Disabilities Day.

Adeleke, while speaking, lauded the resilience, creativity, and potential of persons with disabilities in the state.

The governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Special Needs, Kamil Aransi, said that the state government is committed to empowering PWDs through policy reforms, advocacy, and empowerment programmes.

Adeleke, while speaking on the topic “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disability for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” called for the engagement of PWDs in all areas of human endeavor.

He said that PWDs have the potential to excel irrespective of the challenges they face and their conditions.

He added that persons with disabilities are not defined by their challenges but by their resilience, creativity, and potential.

“Persons with disabilities are not defined by their challenges but by their resilience, creativity, and potential.

“Across Osun State and beyond, we see PWDs excelling in arts, sports, education, governance, and entrepreneurship, proving that disability is not inability.”
