The Kaduna State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. John Hayab, has urged Nigerians to respect the nation’s judiciary and unite for the progress of the country.

He made the plea during an interview, following the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday, September 6.

The five-man judicial panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

Hayab said, “We should, as Nigerians, respect the judicial system for the interest of peace and harmonious coexistence of the country.

”Nigerians must not allow themselves to be used to divide the country, based on political differences, but unite and work with the person the court rules in his favour to lead the affairs of the land for development to thrive in Nigeria.

The cleric further advised Nigerians against getting involved in activities that could lead to chaos and destabilise the nation’s growth.

He also urged politicians and all Nigerians to accept the judgment of the tribunal and allow the rule of law to take its due course, even if the judgment did not go according to their expectations.

“Politicians come and go but the country remains. Therefore, we must think inward and not allow some selfish individuals to put the country into confusion that could lead to chaos and result in the loss of lives and property, and which could set the country backwards, instead of consolidating Nigeria’s progress.”
