PDP clears Adeleke, Ogunbiyi, others for Osun guber primary | Newspot

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Thursday that it has cleared Senator Ademola Adeleke and Akin Ogunbiyi for Osun State governorship primary.

It also cleared former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdulateef Akinbade, Emmanuel Olusanya, Dele Adeleke and Dotun Babayemi for the exercise.

Chairman, Osun State PDP governorship Screening Committee, Mohammed Adoke, announced this, yesterday, while presenting the panel’s report to the National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature in Abuja.

Adoke, who is also former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, said the screening was conducted in line with PDP’s constitution and guidelines.

On his part, Bature commended members of the committee for their selfless service to the party, adding that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants.

“Osun is one of the important states to our party and we believe that with the job this committee has done, all the aspirants will be glad with the outcome. The aspirants will see that we have done the best in their interest,” he said.

Also, yesterday, PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, pledged to create a level playing field for all presidential aspirants on the party’s platform.

He gave the assurance when the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, and former president of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Sam Ohuabunwa, visited him to intimate him of their interest to contest the 2023 presidential election on the PDP platform.

Ayu said the party does not have a preferred candidate for its presidential ticket, noting that members of the party would decide its presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

Speaking, Momodu said he was at the party secretariat to inform the Chairman of his intention to contest the presidential poll, as candidate of the party.
