The 30-year-old would be a very attractive prospect as a free agent and the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Tottenham have all been linked with a move for him.
Clubs from outside the Premier League would have an advantage over the likes of Spurs as they could negotiate with the Ivory Coast international in January and agree a summer move ahead of their English rivals.
It would be a big call for Zaha to turn down one of those European giants who could offer him Champions League football and enormous wages, but Vieira is hopeful that he stays at Selhurst Park and continues his role as a leader in the Eagles’ squad.
‘Wilfred knows the position of the football club and the decision is going to be his. When he will be ready, we will listen to what he has to say,’ said Vieira.
‘But everyone knows we want him to stay in our football club. We want to grow with Wilfried as one of our leaders, but the decision has to be his.
‘The only focus at the moment is about how he has been training and how he is preparing himself to compete and to help the team to perform.’
Zaha has played over 400 games for Palace and enjoyed his most prolific season last time around, scoring 14 Premier League goals in 33 appearances. He is impressing again this campaign with six goals in 13 league games.
