The gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming election in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, has declared that past governors in the state have recorded only 20 per cent success.
Akingboye made this declaration while addressing journalists at a press conference held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Friday.
Newspot reports that the gubernatorial election in Ondo State has been scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, this year.
Akingboye, while speaking at the press conference, insisted that previous governors who governed the state achieved only 20 per cent success and recorded 80 per cent failure in major areas of human endeavor.
The SDP candidate further stated that previous governors have failed in areas such as education, power, industrialization, and economic development.
He noted that he is in the race to correct the mistakes made by previous governors.
Akingboye also mentioned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not interfere with the gubernatorial election process, as people are closely watching what will happen.
“All the governors in the state have offered their services based on their capacities. Past governors in Ondo State made 80 per cent mistakes; they only recorded 20 per cent success.
“In terms of education, we all know that Ondo State was number one when we were with Ekiti, but now, Ondo State is no longer number one. Ondo State was also a leader in cocoa production.
“As I speak, Taraba State has surpassed Ondo State in cocoa production. These are the areas where they have underperformed. We need to know what to do in Ondo State. If Taraba State can be the first in cocoa production today, why is Ondo State ranked fifth?
“Tinubu will not interfere with the Ondo State gubernatorial election because everyone is watching. My advice to him is to simply stay out of it.
“The election will be free and fair. It will be peaceful. Tinubu will not use his power to influence the election.”
