There was panic on Sunday evening as suspected gunmen allegedly attacked two Sokoto communities.
The two communities, according to a source who spoke with our correspondent, are Bubari and Durbawa, both in Denge-Shuni and Sokoto South Local Government Areas respectively.
The source who briefed our correspondent on the telephone disclosed that the gunmen stormed Durbawa and Bubari on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically.
The source however could not confirm any casualty but disclosed that the suspects made away with some animals in the village.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack while assuring that security operatives are on top of the situation.
The spokesman of the command, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, in a text message response to our correspondent said, “we are on top of the situation, under control”
Meanwhile, as of the time of filling this report, some residents vowed not to return back to affected communities until Monday.
