The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, has announced the refunding of over N375,397,680 to Kano State pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj.
Speaking during a management meeting held at his office, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u revealed that the funds were allocated by the Saudi Arabian authorities through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as compensation for the power outage experienced at Mina during the pilgrimage.
A total of 6,146 pilgrims from Kano State were part of the 2023 Hajj, with each receiving N61,080.
According to Sulaiman A. Dederi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, the disbursement process had been carefully structured to ensure transparency and accountability.
He stated that all payments would be transferred directly to the pilgrims’ bank accounts, eliminating any possibility of discrepancies.
He further assured the public that the board remained committed to prioritizing the welfare of pilgrims and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
The Director General encouraged Local Government Hajj Center Officers to ramp up efforts in promoting the sale of Hajj seats for the upcoming pilgrimage.
He expressed concern over the slow progress in seat sales and urged collaborative efforts to ensure efficient operations and enhanced service delivery for prospective pilgrims.
