Over 500,000 residents at Odo Ona Elewe,  Orita Challenge, Elebu, Ashipa and Akala Expressway in Ibadan,  Oyo State may have to spend the New Year in darkness

This is because since the afternoon of Christmas day  the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC switched off the light and up to the time of  this report the company has not restored it.
Today 29 December 2024 marks the fifth day the inhabitants of these areas have been sweating it out in the hot weather.
When newspot correspondent was at IBEDC office at Ring Road no useful information was gathered  except for reading in one of the notices  ” we are facing some  challenges “
Mrs Ruth Akintola was in anger mood when contacted: ” This is absolute nonsense. For five days now it is like living in hell as described in the Bible. You can’t freeze your food and high cost of foodstuffs is making things unbearable.  This Nigeria, na wao!.”
Mr Godwin a spare part seller lamented that since the light went off five days ago, my children are having there worst holiday break.  They can’t watch TV, nor charge their telephones to go online. Not enough money to keep buying fuel to power the generator.  They are putting pressure on me saying ‘ Daddy let us japa! “
