🔴 Breaking News:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has issued a directive to its members and supporters to participate in tomorrow’s local government elections scheduled by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).

In a statement released on Friday by the party’s media office, the PDP strongly criticized Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, over his recent comments regarding the scheduled elections. The party characterized Fagbemi’s statements as part of an alleged plot by the APC-led federal government to destabilize Osun State, viewing it as retaliation against the state’s electorate who voted out the APC in 2022.

The PDP emphasized that elections are a fundamental democratic right that cannot be subject to individual preferences. The party recalled Fagbemi’s previous role as legal counsel to former governor Gboyega Oyetola during the 2022 governorship election litigation, which ultimately proved unsuccessful at the Supreme Court.

“Fagbemi’s opinion cannot be regarded as flawless, as such opinions have been dismissed many times by courts of competent jurisdiction,” the statement noted, highlighting the AGF’s past record in legal proceedings.

The party maintained its commitment to participating in the February 22 local government elections, calling for peaceful conduct among its supporters during the electoral process.
