In a strong rebuke, the Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly attempting to exploit the recent crisis between the Ifon and Ilobu communities for political gain. The PDP’s Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, expressed disappointment over the APC’s actions, labeling them as shameless and politically infantile.
In a press statement released on Monday, Hon. Bisi condemned the APC for its “reckless and uncharitable comments” regarding the crisis, asserting that the party’s attempts to redeem its tarnished image through such misfortunes only reveal its destructive tendencies. He emphasized that the APC’s criticism of Governor Adeleke’s handling of the situation was not only illogical but also failed to acknowledge the governor’s genuine efforts towards achieving a lasting solution.
“The Osun APC has shown no concern for the people affected by the crisis, focusing instead on drawing political capital from the unfortunate loss of lives and properties,” Hon. Bisi remarked. He accused the party of attempting to destabilize the state and further its power agenda by fueling the conflict.
Highlighting the proactive measures taken by Governor Adeleke, Hon. Bisi noted that the governor has been actively engaging with stakeholders and traditional rulers in the affected communities to foster peace. Emergency management officials have also been deployed to provide relief to those impacted by the crisis.
“Peace has returned to Ifon and Ilobu, and it is time for the APC to stop its unwarranted criticism and focus on supporting the peace efforts,” he concluded.
The Osun PDP’s statement reflects a growing concern for the welfare of the communities involved and a call for political maturity amidst challenging circumstances.

IFON-ILOBU CRISIS: OSUN APC PLOT AGAINST OSUN FAILED
The Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for using the crisis that erupted between Ifon and Ilobu recently to further its infantile politics, saying the erstwhile ruling party in the state should be ashamed of itself for trying to exploit the unfortunate loss of lives and properties for selfish political objectives.
The PDP in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, on Monday, mocked the APC for failing in its plot to cash in on the crisis in Ifon-Ilobu to redeem its battered image in the estimation of Osun people, noting that the APC’s reckless and uncharitable comments on the crisis have further exposed its destructive tendency to the people.
Hon. Bisi dismissed the APC’s criticism of Governor Adeleke’s handling of the crisis as lame and illogical, noting that the opposition party’s narrow view on the crisis underscores its failings to take into account genuine effort by Governor Adeleke to proffer lasting solution to the decades-long crisis between the two communities.
“It is now clear to Osun people and Nigerians in general that the Osun APC in the state has no concern whatsoever for the people, particularly those in Ifon and Ilobu, where crisis recently erupted. A responsible party would be concerned about lives and properties unfortunately lost in the crisis, not trying to draw political capital as the Osun APC did,” Hon. Bisi noted.
“Osun APC suggested that Governor Adeleke didn’t handle the crisis well, but the truth which can no longer be concealed by the opposition restlessness is that, it is bitter because its plot to destabilize the state failed. It is no longer a secret that certain Osun APC leaders are fueling the Ifon-Ilobu crisis with the expectation that it would serve its desperate power grab agenda. That is how evil the Osun APC has become just to serve its lust for power.”
Hon. Bisi said Governor Adeleke is up and doing, exploring every reasonable option to broker lasting peace in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun, pointing out that contrary to the ludicrous notions entertained by the Osun APC, Governor Adeleke has taken up initiatives, consultations, and moves that will restore lasting peace.
“Contrary to the lies peddled by the Osun APC, Governor Adeleke has taken necessary measures to put the crisis out and also provide reprieve for people affected. As of yesterday, emergency management officials from the state were in the warring communities to provide relief materials to the people.
“As we speak, Governor Adeleke is visiting the communities for personal assessment and to also speak to the people there as a follow-up to several other meetings held with the traditional rulers and stakeholders in the affected communities. So, what exactly is the APC talking about except for unwittingly letting out its frustration as its plot to throw Osun in chaos failed totally.
“Peace has returned to Ifon and Ilobu and every peace-loving person in Osun state is very much happy about this. While we understand the pain of the Osun APC on the prevailing realities in the communities, we hope that the opposition can at least, show decorum and stop fouling the polity with its illogical postulations.”
Signed:
Hon. Sunday Bisi,
The Chairman, Osun PDP
