OSOGBO – Hon. Oluwapelumi Ojo, Senior Special Assistant on Sanitation to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has unveiled “Group Up for a Clean Up,” a bold statewide campaign designed to reshape public attitudes toward waste and elevate Osun as a national model of environmental innovation.

In a statement released on social media, Hon. Ojo described how previous administrations had normalized the indiscriminate dumping of refuse, particularly on road medians. But under the current administration’s renewed vision, the state is rewriting that narrative through consistent sensitization, integration of environmental education into cultural festivals, and practical community-based interventions.

The new campaign, which is set to roll out across Osun’s communities, brings together residents, recognized waste collectors, and key government institutions, including the Osun State House of Assembly. The initiative already enjoys strong institutional backing and is envisioned as more than just a clean-up exercise—it is a platform for economic opportunity within the circular economy.

“Our approach is clear: to reframe waste as a resource and embed sustainability into our culture,”

Hon. Ojo said.

“The involvement of state legislators, traditional institutions, and grassroots stakeholders is a testament to the shared commitment to reposition Osun as the cleanest and most entrepreneurially waste-driven state in the world.”

As implementation gears up, partnerships with capable waste managers and community organizations are already being fine-tuned. The campaign is expected to complement ongoing efforts to professionalize waste management and foster a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and economic growth.
