The Osun State government has taken decisive steps to address ongoing concerns regarding the training of new personnel for the Amotekun security service by approving the absorption of additional applicants into the program.

Following directives from Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, Chief of Staff Hon Kazeem Akinleye intervened in the matter, meeting with the leadership of the Amotekun service to thoroughly review the recruitment process. Discussions focused on the grievances of excluded applicants, which were addressed comprehensively.

Chairman of the Amotekun security service, Hon Wale Abbas, presented a situation report to Akinleye, leading to the approval for the inclusion of the aggrieved applicants in the training program. Abbas clarified that no fatalities occurred during a minor protest the previous day and assured that the recruitment process remains free from political bias. This assurance was communicated by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the State Governor.

In a show of commitment, Hon Akinleye, accompanied by Commissioner for Special Duties Dr. Bashiru Salami and Hon Wale Abbas (AIG Rtd.), visited the training camp to announce the acceptance of the protesting applicants. He emphasized the importance of selfless service to the community and urged the trainees to take their training seriously.

Akinleye conveyed the best wishes of Governor Adeleke to the trainees, commending their eagerness to contribute to the security of Osun State. He also directed the Amotekun management to ensure the provision of necessary welfare packages and a conducive environment for the trainees while they are in camp.
