The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iwo Local Government, Osun State, has publicly distanced itself from a call for the resignation of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru. This response comes after a member of the local APC, Olawale Apara, penned an open letter demanding Basiru’s resignation.

The APC Iwo Local Government, led by Chairman Olaniyi James, swiftly rejected Apara’s claims, asserting that he is not recognized as a member of the party. In their official statement, they praised Senator Basiru for his unwavering commitment and significant contributions to the APC, both in his current role and as a former representative of the Osun Central Senatorial District.

“The APC Iwo Local Government has issued a statement dissociating itself from a malicious write-up by Olawale Apara, who called for Senator Ajibola Basiru’s resignation as National Secretary of the party,” the statement read. It encouraged members and the public to disregard Apara’s assertions and any other potentially divisive publications.

Furthermore, the party warned individuals like Apara, whom they accused of using a fake name, to refrain from writing disparaging articles that could foster disunity within the APC. They reiterated their loyalty to the party and confidence in its values and principles.

This incident underscores the ongoing dynamics within the APC in Osun, as the party navigates internal challenges while maintaining its unity and focus on the upcoming electoral processes.
