Osoba Commissions Multimillion naira House For League Of Veterans In Oyo State ( Photos)

The League of Veteran Journalists Oyo State Chapter on Monday 29 April 2024 formally commissioned its multimillion naira edifice named ” Veteran Journalists House” in Ibadan Oyo State.

The official opening of the house was performed by the generalissimo of Nigerian Journalists and former Governor of Ogun State Chief Segun Osoba

The house  is located in the premises of Oyo State  Press Centre . The ceremony witnessed large turnout of Veteran Journalists whose ages are from 60 upward. They dignified the occasion with their flowing ‘Agbada’ dresses.

Chief Osoba whose presence brightened up the occasion spoke by appreciating those whose idea gave birth to a very comfortable meeting place for Veteran Journalists who had given there all to the profession tirelessly.

He said his generous donation to the project was no doubt came from his bosom friend Mr Felix Adenaike who gave him a call from the  United State of America.  He promised to keep giving for the maintenance of the project.

In a response to a comment by the Chairman of the League of Veteran Oyo State Mr Banji Ogundele that those Veterans in their 80s were already with their  boarding passes  preparing to pass on. To this Chief Osoba jocularly said at 80 “it is just a beginning of life for some of us. We are not contemplating to board any flight. I am still a practicing Journalist”.

Mr Ogundele in his speech thanked members of the League for contributing generously to the project.

He said it was May 2023 that the idea to have a  befitting place for the Veterans was hatched and before a year the dream came true.  He poured encomiums on their few sponsors who gave fat donations towards the project
