Striker Victor Osimhen was on target for Napoli in their 9-0 thumping of minnows Anaune in a club friendly on Thursday, PUNCH Sports Extra report.
The Nigerian came off the bench at the interval to score his side’s sixth goal, minutes after he hit the crossbar.
A brace each from Matteo Politano and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia coupled with further strikes from Hirving Lozano, Alessio Zerbin, Amir Rrahmani and ZamboAndre Anguissa and an own goal by Anaune completed the rout.
Meanwhile, Osimhen has refused a move to Premier League side Newcastle, with reports in Italy revealing that the Nigeria international views the move as a step down from the Partenopei.
Osimhen is one of Napoli’s prized pieces, and head coach Luciano Spalletti hopes that the Nigerian remains at Naples.
The Neapolitan club, according to Corriere dello Sport, has received a lot of phone calls for him, but the price tag set by President Aurelio De Laurentiis – €110m – has scared everyone; from Bayern Munich to Manchester United, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
The only club unfazed by the price tag, strengthened through new ownership, is Newcastle United.
According to Area Napoli, Osimhen has already given his answer to such a transfer, “No, thanks.”
The Nigerian player believes that Napoli is superior to Newcastle, and in his third season at the Italian side, he would like to show everyone that he is a top-level striker, then at the end of next season, he believes that a top team will come for his services.
Last season, Osimhen scored 14 goals and recorded five assists in 27 appearances in Serie A.
He also netted four goals and one assist in the Europa League, as the Partenopi finished third in Serie A last term, with 79 points from 38 games.
