Hundreds of residents of Ore, Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State, on Thursday, expressed frustration over the incessant flooding of their homes.
The residents who stormed the residence of the council boss, Magaret Akinsuroju Akinsuroju, to protest the severe flooding called for immediate action.
The protest comes in the wake of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, causing rivers to overflow their banks.
Areas affected by the flooding included Government Field, Harrison and Di Mango, among others.
The Ore axis of the Lagos-Benin highway was also heavily flooded, leading to significant traffic congestion and forcing motorists to endure lengthy delays.
With the aggrieved residents gathering at the residence of Akinsuroju, they sought her intervention and demanded a sustainable solution to the recurrent flooding issues they face.
The residents highlighted their concerns and appealed for meaningful dialogue with authorities to address the perennial problem.
While responding to their grievances, Akinsuroju, assured the residents that she had already informed the Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, about the incidents.
She further acknowledged that part of the problem stemmed from residents constructing buildings in waterways and indiscriminately dumping refuse in water channels.
