The All Progressives Congress, APC, has disclosed that the 16 governorship aspirants in Ondo State jostling for the ticket of the party ahead of the April 20 gubernatorial primaries in the state will soon be screened.
The national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, who disclosed this, assured the aspirants of a level playing field during the party’s primaries.
Speaking through the deputy national organising secretary of the party, Nze Chidi Duru, the national chairman, emphasised that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party is committed to ensuring that the rules guiding the conduct of the primary election are strictly adhered to.
He also told opposition parties in the state that the ruling party will be victorious during the November 16 polls, stressing that the APC will retain its hold on the state.
“Being the last day of the closure of submission of forms and after today, the next exercise would be the screening exercise that would take place on the 11th and 12th of April next week.
“We would basket the aspirants into groups; we would have done it today, but because of the different views of when the holidays would fall, our confidence is that by Monday the government would have released the date for the Salah holiday,” he said.
The 16 aspirants that will be screened by the party include Governor Lucky Ayiedatiwa, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Jimi Odimayo, Jimoh Ibrahim, and APC National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaac Kekemeke.
Others are Wale Akinterinwa, Olugbenga Oedema, Olusola Oke, Olamide Ohunyeye, Morayo Lebi, Oladiran Iyantan, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Mayowa Akinfolarin, and Ifeoluwa Oyedele, as well as two female aspirants, Funmilayo Adekojo and Funke Omogoroye.
