The Adelami political movement has collapsed its structure in support of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the state’s governorship election later this year.

The movement, comprising over 8,000 members, has now rebranded as the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami Grassroots Mobilisers, with members spread across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

The Adelami political movement was previously associated with Olayide Adelami, the current deputy governor of Ondo State, who contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in 2020.

Segun Ogodo, the Director-General of the group, led its leadership to the deputy governor’s office in Akure to announce the decision.

Ogodo stated that the choice to collapse their structure for Aiyedatiwa stemmed from the conviction that only the governor could lead the state to the next level.

He praised the deputy governor as a dedicated party member who significantly contributed to APC’s success in the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State.

“Dr Adelami went out of his way to donate massively to the campaign of Arakunrin Akeredolu in 2020 and that was part of the things that gave us result.

“After the election, he kept sustaining us across the 18 local government areas till date.

“The structure has remained vibrant and solid for grassroots political mobilisation since then.

In his response. the deputy governor, expressed gratitude to the group for their loyalty and support during the 2020 governorship election.

He urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 2024 governorship election, stating the importance of unity and hard work in achieving their goal.

“Let us be united and put in every effort to make the Aiyedatiwa project a success.”
