In a heartfelt plea for peace and unity, His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola, Akinyooye III, the Olufon of Ifon-Osun and President of the Irepodun and Orolu Traditional Council, has addressed the recent communal clashes that have disrupted the harmony among the communities of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun in Osun State.
In a press release dated March 22, 2025, Oba Ipadeola expressed his deep concern over the escalating tensions and urged the traditional rulers of the neighboring communities, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan of Ilobu and Oba Yusuff Omoloye Oyagbodun of Erin-Osun, to collaborate in restoring peace. He emphasized the importance of leadership in guiding their people back to a path of cooperation and mutual respect, stating that “no kingdom thrives in the face of strife, and no people develop in the midst of chaos.”
The Olufon encouraged all affected indigenes to return to their homes and rebuild the sense of community that has been lost. He highlighted the shared history and culture that bind the communities and called for an end to hostilities, urging everyone to focus on collective progress.
Appreciating the swift action of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, Oba Ipadeola commended his leadership during this turbulent time and called for a thorough investigation into the violence. He asserted that peace cannot exist without justice and warned against those who would politicize the crisis for personal gain, reminding them that their actions would not go unpunished.
In his concluding remarks, the Olufon urged every citizen of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun to embrace peace and dialogue, stating, “We are stronger together.” He expressed hope that the spirit of unity would prevail, allowing the communities to flourish once again.
