The member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team who was headbutted by John Fury has warned that he ‘will be ready to fight’ if there is another confrontation in Saudi Arabia this week.

Tyson Fury’s father, John, was at the centre of a heated bust-up in Riyadh on Monday as both camps clashed while the fighters were fulfilling media obligations.

John Fury became irate at the constant chants of ‘Usyk, Usyk’ and ended up headbutting Stanislav Stepchuk before being pulled away by security.

Despite being significantly larger than Stepchuk, John Fury was left with a bloodied forehead, while his son, Shane Fury, was angered by Usyk’s camp for chanting in his father’s face.

‘He just went crazy, only because of the name,’ Stepchuk told Seconds Out, via an interpreter.

‘If he gets mad only from shouting Usyk’s name, what will happen in five days?

‘If he thinks we’re disrespecting because we shout Usyk’s name maybe he is a little bit crazy.

‘I was a little bit shocked, I didn’t see it coming. It wasn’t a rational movement.’

Asked if he thought about retaliating, Stepchuk replied: ‘Yes, for sure, but because of the age difference it would not be very fair.

‘The bigger the man is the louder he falls.

‘For his sake, he should not look for an actual fight because he could have a heart attack and finish in an ambulance.’

When asked if the headbutt from John Fury hurt, Stepchuk said: ‘No.’

Asked if he sees John Fury again, Stepchuk said: ‘I will be ready.

‘If he attacks I will defend myself. Of course, I’m ready to fight.’

When asked for his version of the headbutt incident, John Fury told iFL TV: ‘It’s a fight game, emotions are running high, I was was sat there minding my own business, all I could hear was, ‘Usyk, Usyk, Usyk’, and I’m going to stand up for my son.

‘At the end of the day he’s my son, he’s the best in the world, and I was people to respect him and give him the credit he deserves as a champion, he’s the best in the world.

‘Because when I was in amongst them, all I could hear was badness, some little idiot come forward, I don’t know who he was, in my space, he got what he got and that’s the end of it, happens every day of the week for me, that’.

‘It is what it is, it’s the fight game isn’t it? People are in positions, Tyson and Usyk ca say what they want to each other, they are the ones who are going to fight, but I don’t think anybody else has got the authority to call anybody [anything] else, do you?

‘If one of my team was to insult Usyk they’d be sacked because they haven’t got the authority to do that. So at the end of the day leave the fighting men to fight, I’ve done what I’ve done, I’ve no complaints about anything, I am what I am, I’m going to defend my name with everything I’ve got.’
