Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has cautioned residents to ensure the maintenance of peace to enable uninhibited exploration in Kolmani fields.

Already, there have been verbal disagreements in the media over the actual owners of Kolmani one, two, three, four, and five.

However, based on the remarks of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), during the inauguration, the discovery would yield the country over $3 billion in investment.

According to Yahaya, exploration would not only be disrupted but investors in other sectors of the economy of the State may leave the state the relative peace becomes threatened.

Yahaya made this disclosure on Wednesday, at the palace of Mai Kaltungo,  Engr. Saleh Mohammed, when his campaign train arrived in Kaltungo after completing ward-to-ward campaigns in Balanga.

The Governor expressed worry and therefore cautioned that disputes between communities in the State could also arise if measures are not taken to keep the communities peaceful.

Yahaya noted with emphasis the critical roles of the traditional institutions, stressing that they are stakeholders in ensuring peaceful co-existence among the people.

He said, “the desired economic benefit from the oil will only be a curse to communities and State in general if people continue to fight each other because of where the oil or exploration activities are sited.”

Our Correspondent reports that the Governor proceeded to Kaltungo East, Kaltungo West, Ture, Awak, Kamo and Tungo wards for his campaign.
