Ogun police arrest fleeing suspects

Two suspected robbers identified as Akande Sulaiman and Adekanbi Matthew believed to have participated in the recent Sagamu Hotel bloody robbery have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday with the assistance of the police personnel attached to Mapo Area Divisional Police headquarters, Oyo state command.

Earlier, the Ogun state police command had said that its operatives engaged some armed robbers who invaded Remo Majestic Hotel, Sagamu in a gun duel and killed two of the robbers while others reportedly escaped with bullet wounds.

The ravaging robbers allegedly also shot one of its officers, an inspector, and two security guards: the wounded officers, who are reportedly receiving medical care at the moment, are claimed to be in stable condition.

However, in an exclusive chat with PUNCH Metro on Thursday, the state Public Relations Officer, Omolola Oduntola, said during the gunfight between the police and the thieves, it was claimed that one Elijah confessed that Suleiman and Matthew were members of the gang.

She added, “One black Jeep with REG. NO AAA 804 GD snatched by the robbers, which they used to perpetrate their escape from the scene has been recovered. The two suspects and the exhibits recovered will be taken to SCID for further investigation.”
