The Eselu of Iselu, Yewa North area of Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, has reacted to the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola as the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, making demands.
Adeola, who is representing the people of Ogun West, was on Tuesday named as the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
While congratulating the Senator and expressing joy that the man from his senatorial district was considered for such an important position, Oba Akinyemi charged the Senator to “do things differently.”
The monarch, in a statement made available to Newspot on Wednesday, told the Senator to ensure a high level of transparency in everything that has to do with appropriation.
According to him, “the days of budget padding and unlawful misappropriation of funds should be over with Adeola as the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee.”
The monarch requested Adeola to put an end to wasteful spending in government while also ensuring that important infrastructural projects do not suffer a lack of appropriation.
Eselu asked Adeola to “make good use of your new position for the betterment of Ogun West and Ogun State in general.”
The Oba reminded the Senator that his senatorial district has for long been relegated to the background, saying the time is now to change the narratives.
He also appealed to the Federal Government to reconsider its ban on fuel supply to border communities in Ogun State, saying, “my people are suffering.”
“On behalf of other monarchs, I am, on behalf of The Trusted Royals, congratulating Senator Adeola on this well-deserved appointment. We are confident that this your new position would rub off on Ogun West and Ogun State in general.
“I am also looking forward to the effects of this your new office on Ogun West, Ogun State and the South West. Let there be massive development.
“We want transparency during your own time. Please fight corruption and stop this issue of budget padding. Let there be equity and Nigeria shall be great again.”
