The Coalition for Good Governance and Security (CGGS) has hailed the Nigerian military for its role in the just concluded off-cycle election in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states.
The National Coordinator of the Coalition, Ishaku Aliyu said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to him, the Armed Forces had fulfilled promises which the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, made by remaining neutral in all the states where the election was conducted.
Aliyu stated that the noble role of the military had ensured that the election recorded few security hitches, extolling the defense chief for his support to deepen democracy in the country.
“We are aware of the stern warning by the CDS that criminal tendencies during the election will not be condoned.
“We can say that the AFN kept to its promise. Our investigation across the 3 states where the off-cycle election was conducted revealed that our military performed excellently well.
“In spite of the attempt by some politicians to draw the military into what took place, we can give them credit for their neutrality. Once more, CGGS commends the CDS for his excellent outing.”
