Nwifuru establishes seven-man committee to review appointment of 80 Aides

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has established a seven-man committee to review the political appointment of over 80 Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, SSA, Special Assistants, SA, and other aides by his administration.

Newspot reports that the members of the committee were selected from the thirteen 13 local government areas of the state and is led by Peter Nworie as the chairman and I Ukeni as secretary.

Other members include; John Nwankata, Queendaline Nwigwe, Dickson Udu, Okeye Odilichukwu and Sunday Onuzu.

It was gathered the Governor set up the committee to make peace between stakeholders, and reduce tension, rancour and acrimony arising from the various political wards of the state, as a result of the appointment of over eighty cabinet members by his administration.

The committee is also to evaluate the performances and contributions of political stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who hail from the 171 wards, especially at the last general election that took place in the 13 LGAs of the state.

The chairman of the committee, Peter Ndubisi Nworie and other members who spoke to newsmen shortly after visiting six local government areas; Ivo, Ohaozara, Onicha, Edda, Afikpo North and Ezza South LGAs, said Governor Nwifuru believes in fairness and equity and will ensure that appointment of persons from the 171 wards of the state are not lopsided.

“Governor, Nwifuru believes in fairness, equity and inclusion of all relevant stakeholders in his administration and that’s why he established this committee to check whether there is lopsidedness in the appointments so far made’” he stated.

In their separate reactions, the Council chairman of Edda Local Government Area, LGA Prince Ekuma Nkama Chima, commended the governor for establishing the committee as a way to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party but demanded more inclusion of the community in his appointments.

Also, the chairman of Afikpo North LGA, Uchenna Ibiam applauded the Governor for the display of maturity, especially for setting up the appointment review committee, as a way to bring all critical stakeholders together and to pave the way for communities that were not included in the previous appointments to be included.
