In a bold move to solidify its dominance in the global artificial intelligence (AI) race, NVIDIA has announced it will begin manufacturing AI supercomputers on American soil for the first time, marking a major strategic shift in the semiconductor industry.
The company is partnering with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to build and assemble its powerful Blackwell AI chips and supercomputers at new facilities across Arizona and Texas. Over a million square feet of manufacturing space has been commissioned, with chip production already underway at TSMC’s plant in Phoenix. Supercomputer assembly will follow soon in Houston and Dallas, with mass production ramping up within 12–15 months.
According to Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time.” He added that domestic production will strengthen supply chains, boost national resilience, and help meet growing demand for AI technology.
NVIDIA’s new factories will not just build computers — they are designed as “AI factories” themselves. These next-generation data centers are optimized to process and train AI models, the core of industries ranging from autonomous vehicles to drug discovery. The move is expected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and contribute trillions of dollars to U.S. economic security over the coming decades.
To streamline operations, NVIDIA will rely heavily on its own Omniverse platform to build digital twins of its factories and use NVIDIA Isaac GR00T robots to automate workflows. These technologies will enable precision in manufacturing while drastically reducing time and error.
The announcement comes amid a broader wave of innovation from NVIDIA. During National Robotics Week, the company unveiled its Isaac GR00T N1, the first open foundation model for humanoid robots, and introduced Newton, a new physics engine co-developed with Google DeepMind and Disney Research. It also announced a 15-terabyte open-source robotics dataset and expanded training opportunities for developers through its Deep Learning Institute.
All of these developments underscore NVIDIA’s expanding role as both a hardware and software powerhouse in AI and robotics — and now, a force in reshoring advanced tech manufacturing to the U.S.
This marks a pivotal moment not just for America’s tech sector, but for the global landscape of AI development.
