NUC accredits Nursing degree for Ajayi Crowther University

…As 41 students bag First Class honours

The National Universities Commission  has accredited Nursing degree programme for Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, to fully run the programme, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, announced on Monday.

Adebayo made this announcement at a press conference held in the institution, ahead of the 14th convocation ceremony of ACU for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The vice chancellor, who used the occasion to announce that about 41 undergraduate persons bagged First Class Honours while 628 bagged Second Class Honours (Upper Division), however, expressed optimism that the institution would own its teaching hospital soon.

He explained that the university had continued to enjoy stability and advancement in it academic activities.

Adebayo said, “All the programmes on offer now numbering 43 are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission. Among these accredited programme is the most recently approved one, which is Bachelor of Nursing Science programme.

“We promised to introduce Nursing into our programmes in our convocation last year. Getting approval to run the Nursing degree programme is a great accomplishment.”

Speaking on some of the feat recorded, the vice chancellor said the institution had established the Ajayi Crowther University Seed Company aimed at boasting the economy and food efficiency for the institution.

“Agriculture and its businesses are matters of high priority to this great institution. This is because just as agriculture is a main stay of the nation’s economy, it is also a major sector that ensures life’s sustenance. The importance of food to human life and living cannot be overemphasised, and many plants which give us food grow through their seeds.”

On the convocation ceremony which is billed for December 8 and 9, the vice chancellor said various degrees would be awarded to 1547 undergraduates and 583 for the post graduate students.

“In the undergraduate category, 41 persons bagged First Class Honours; 628 in the Second Class Honours (Upper Division); while 511 and 101 are in the Second Class Honours (Lower Division) and Third Class, respectively.”
