The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Eluwade M. Eluyemi, on Monday, 11th March, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to JAMB State Office, Uyo.According to Engr. Eluwade Eluyemi, the essence of his visit was to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with the Board. He highlighted the functions of the paramilitary body to include protection of lives and property, curbing illegal bunkering of petroleum products and mining activities. He disclosed that the Corps had recorded noticeable successes in these areas as it had been able to apprehend and prosecute suspects while participating in efforts to rid the nation of the nefarious activities of kidnappers, as well as providing security cover for the various examinations of the Board. The Commandant, however, solicited more collaboration with the Board promising that the Corps would continue to do its best to deliver on its mandate in the State. He, therefore, urged the Board to furnish the Command with actionable intelligence on any observed criminal activity for necessary action.Engr. Eluyemi further stated that following the increase in the spate of kidnappings, especially of school children, in the country, the Command would be organising a sensitisation workshop for all the schools within the State, in which the JAMB State Office would be invited to give a presentation.The State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima-William, in her response, expressed appreciation to the Commandant for the visit. She recalled that the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had, prior to the conduct of the Mock-UTME, held a virtual meeting with the leadership of the NSCDC on areas of further collaboration. She commended NSCDC personnel for always being proactive in the discharge of their duties.The NSCDC Commandant was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy State Commandant, Critical Asset Management , Mr Essien Udim, and other top officials of NSCDC in the State
