The Nigerian gospel film industry is in a state of mourning following the untimely death of talented actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, popularly known as “Flora” for her role in the acclaimed movie series “Abattoir.”
Tragically, Flora passed away on February 4, 2025, after succumbing to injuries sustained in a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in December. Her death was confirmed by Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, the son of renowned filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, who took to social media to express his grief.
In a heartfelt post on X.com, Joshua wrote, “It’s been a few quiet days for me here. I am still struggling to process the passing of Toluwalope—a fellow drama minister and a light in this world. It’s heartbreaking and difficult to understand, but even in our pain, we continue to trust Him. It was a short run but with a lasting impact. My heart goes out to her family. I pray the Lord Himself will comfort them beyond what words can express.”
Flora’s colleagues in the industry have also begun to pay tribute, reflecting on her vibrant spirit and dedication to her craft. Actor Oluwaseun Adejumobi shared a touching tribute on Instagram, reminiscing about their recent work together. He described Flora as someone who “fought a good fight and lived to impact” and was “always willing to serve.”
Adejumobi recalled how Flora was full of life and eager to take on more projects, even during her recovery in the hospital, where she remained optimistic about her future. “This is a painful exit. This is a shock! We take solace in the fact that you have gone to be with your Maker. Goodnight, Sister Tolu. Goodnight, Iya Ibeji. Goodnight, Flora,” he wrote.
The news of Flora’s passing has left many in the industry in a state of shock, as they mourn the loss of a remarkable actress whose impact will be felt for years to come.
