No ransom paid to release abducted Kuriga schoolchildren – Nigerian Govt

The Federal Government has disclosed that ransom was not paid to effect the release of the schoolchildren abducted in the Kuriga area of Kaduna State.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while addressing State House correspondents on Monday.

Recall that 137 schoolchildren were kidnapped in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on March 7 by bandits.

On Sunday, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State announced the release of the abducted pupils.

On its part, the Nigerian Military said the pupils were rescued from Zamfara State were their captors had taken them.

However, Sani dismissed claims that ransom was paid to effect the release of the pupils.
